Shiloh Baptist Church
Location: Greensboro, Georgia.
History
The congregation of this church was started in 1796, even though this was not the original site of the church, it was however the original site of the churches graveyard which we took with those that were lost and the energy from the church as a sign especially from hearing rumors about the activity from the church. Taking what history tells us about Sherman’s march through Georgia and of course the natural course of history with living, life, and of course the occasion of violence we knew that it was worth a shot in checking out the church after gaining permission.
Investigation
This was a two-day investigation spreading across a month with us gaining permission to investigate their graveyard and them requesting us to return to investigate the church itself. Starting with the graveyard it started out very quiet before we brought out the cat balls and invited what we could figure was a shy spirit to come to interact with us, and we even at one point spotted him lurking through the trees as if peaking to get a look at the group. This told us automatically this was some sort of child spirit that we were interacting with and especially when the cat ball started to flash non-stop, and to prevent any obstruction from the wind we placed the ball in a hole of a tree trunk which nothing could move it, it still flashed non-stop. After getting the spirit to stop flashing the ball, we were able to perform a yes and no communication with the spirit which did help us with some information about the spirit and it did help us with the knowledge that we knew about motion devices.
We then decided it was time to pull out our spirit box and other devices to try voice communication and handle it through our EVP devices. The original transcript has for some reason been lost, but the audio, footage, and pictures still exist in our database for a revise on another transcript. After bringing out the spirit box we were able to confirm that this spirit name was Austin and that he died days after being involved in a farming accident which caused some damage due to the fact from the speech pattern we were able to determine he had received a very severe head injury which left his speech impaired. We continued to talk with Austin till we noticed a light flashing through the window in the rear part of the church through a window, we assumed at the time that this was a motion detection light, but after speaking with a caretaker during the second investigation there was no motion light back there nor does the light even work in that specific room which leads to a bathroom. This intrigued us, this was the first time we had ever encountered something like that, let alone in the photos were able to catch some interesting things such as a white misty figure peeking out from a tree.
We had noticed someone walking in the church, only a shadow figure from what we could see as we were told by the caretaker that the church had no one in there at that time along with hearing a specific sound that would sound like it came from horses, after telling this to the caretakers they then demonstrated it was the door being pushed when the door should open inward. When we were requested to come back to the location again for the second time to investigate the main church we were intrigued and were told about the church being moved to that current location during the 1980s. The church was very beautiful with dark hardwood floors and we had set up our equipment along with our new audio equipment which included a baby monitor to allow us to hear into rooms with doors closed. We were into our investigation for four hours and even with Team Member Steven playing pentecostal music in a Baptist church there were no reactions but creaks from the wood, even though most of us felt like there was something there just lurking in the shadows. We did gain some things in the audio, but it was almost like something was holding back those that wanted to talk or it was the spirits themselves preventing themselves to communicate either it was due to trust or from what they believed in their religion of not being able to speak to the dead.
After the investigation, everything was reviewed several times and even still today in our database for further research, in the photos inside the church we were able to get a picture of someone standing halfway behind a door which appeared to be a woman, and behind that woman was something very mischievous looking. We are not claiming that this is a demonic entity, but it could be something that is controlling the spirits into not communicating with us, and further investigating the location would be needed to allow spirits to become used to the idea of speaking with investigators. Being able to speak with Austin the spirit in the graveyard was a major delight to us and made us feel that this is one location we will never forget and we hope to one day return.
